Material: Hardened steel.

Finish: DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) / PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) Non-reflective.
We chose DLC as our finish treatment because it makes the exterior surface of the barrel nut harder making it more resistant to wear.

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) or DLC coatings are applied to improve resistance to everyday wear and tear. The coating properties improve the overall hardness of the material and its ability to withstand higher temperatures. Additionally, these coatings provide resistance to corrosion along with improving the lifespan of your weapon.

* Apply Ballisol or similar product (light oil, not grease) to the outside of the barrel nut prior to installation for best results / ease of installation.
* Apply febi grease or another high temperature grease to the threads of the barrel nut and upper receiver prior to installation to prevent galling during installation, this will also help prevent seizing in the case that the upper assembly is ever disassembled.
